🏫 What is JoSAA?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is the centralized counselling authority for admissions into a total of 128 institutes:
- 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
- 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
- 1 Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST)
- 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)
- 47 Other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs)
It manages seat allocation based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks, with a common platform and process.
📋 Eligibility for JoSAA 2025

🔁 Step-by-Step Procedure for JoSAA 2025 Counselling
✅ Step 1: Registration on JoSAA Portal
- Visit https://josaa.nic.in
- Login using JEE Main 2025 Application Number and password
- JEE Advanced qualified candidates can also access via the same portal
🕐 Start Date: June 3, 2025
✅ Step 2: Choice Filling and Locking
- Browse the list of participating institutes, branches & seat categories
- Fill in as many choices as possible to increase selection chances
- Rearrange preferences anytime before locking
- Lock your choices before the last date, or they will auto-lock
💡 Tip: Check previous year cutoffs and seat matrix on JoSAA website.
✅ Step 3: Mock Seat Allotment (Rounds 1 & 2)
- Two mock rounds help you analyze seat allocation chances
- Adjust preferences based on mock allotment results
✅ Step 4: Final Seat Allotment Rounds
JoSAA will conduct six rounds of seat allotment:

🟢 Seat Acceptance Fee: ₹35,000 (Gen/OBC) | ₹15,000 (SC/ST/PwD)
✅ Step 5: Document Upload and Online Verification
Upload scanned copies of:
- 10th & 12th marksheets
- JEE Main/Advanced rank card
- Category certificates (if applicable)
- Passport size photo & signature
- Domicile/Income certificates (if applicable)
💻 Verification is done online by the Reporting Centre.
✅ Step 6: Reporting and Seat Confirmation
Options after seat allotment:
- Freeze: Accept and don’t participate in next rounds
- Float: Accept, but open to better institute in next rounds
- Slide: Accept institute, but open to better branch
✅ Step 7: Physical Reporting to Allotted Institute
Once final allotment is done:
- Download Provisional Admission Letter
- Report physically to the allotted college with original documents
- Pay remaining fees as per institute norms
